Earthworms

April 17th, 2008 by Carl

This beneficial bug can do some not so beneficial damage to your yard, especially your turf. It can turn your level landscape into what seems like a bumpy, lumpy, uncomfortable to walk on mess.

So, now what do you do about it? Well, because earthworms are considered a beneficial bug, no insecticides are labeled to kill and control them. No professional individual or organization has access to products that will kill earthworms in legal accordance with the labels of any products in the marketplace.

Earthworms provide natural aeration to the soil. One technique to consider if you are overrun with earthworms is a regular aeration schedule. You may want to consider aerating in both the spring and the fall to reduce soil compaction.
